You found me, just that lovable smart ass who has never met a stranger, yet abhors crowds and stands on the edges watching.
I’m great at facilitating and known for bluntness, but completely awkward with small talk and hate walking into a room not knowing my role.
I love people fiercely but protect my peace by requiring a substantial amount of Leave-me-the-hell-alone time.
I have spreadsheets for all the important things in my life, and my favorite place to be is in nature, surrounded by trees, flowers, or the ocean.
I don’t go to church, but I still sing the hymns I grew up on in the shower.
I’m fiercely independent but cherish the feeling of belonging.
I question everything and somehow stay hopeful.
I’m quick with sarcasm and slow at articulating what I really mean in the moment.
Glorious contradictions have always been an accepted part of my life. Holding two truths.
I grew up in poverty, not just the lack of money, but the lack of affection, acceptance, and belonging. Today, my life is full of family I adore—my kids, grandkids, in-laws, godchildren, besties, and yes, even random baristas.
I hope this blog becomes like the Hotel HiKath—a safe harbor with no expectations. Come as you are.
HiKath xoxo
